Don’t Play Me, Anthony — I Know You Were with Amber Last Night! ๐ฅ Piarry Stayed Quiet, But I Know the Truth!
Sunlight spills through the blinds. Anthony walks into the living room rubbing his eyes, stretching. He’s wearing the same clothes from the night before. Shayla is already there — arms folded, face stone-cold, eyes burning with fury.
SHAYLA (voice sharp) Wow. You finally made it back?
ANTHONY (surprised) Shayla? What are you doing here?
SHAYLA Don’t do that. Don’t play dumb with me. You know why I’m here.
ANTHONY (sighs) I told you I was at the lake house. I needed space to clear my head.
SHAYLA (space?) Space? You think I’m some kind of fool? You disappeared all night, didn’t answer your phone, and now you expect me to believe you were just alone?
ANTHONY I was! Shayla, I needed some time to myself, that’s all.
SHAYLA (cuts him off, yelling) Don’t Play Me, Anthony! I know you were with Amber last night!
ANTHONY (defensive) What are you talking about?
SHAYLA You weren’t at home. You weren’t at work. So I drove to Piarry’s last night thinking maybe—just maybe—you’d be there.
ANTHONY You did what?
SHAYLA Yeah. I showed up. Knocked on her door like a damn fool in the middle of the night. You know what she said?
ANTHONY (stern) What did she say?
SHAYLA (snarling) Nothing. She looked me dead in the face and said she hadn’t seen you. But I know Piarry. She was hiding something. She looked nervous — guilty. And now I know why.
ANTHONY Shayla, you’re twisting things. I wasn’t—
SHAYLA (desperately hurt) Don't you dare lie to me again. You think I don't know how Amber moves? You think I didn’t see her little Instagram story and that damn lake view that just happened to match yours?
ANTHONY (pause, caught)
SHAYLA Yeah. Now you quiet. I may not be perfect, Anthony, but I’m not stupid. You were with her. You chose her. Again.
ANTHONY (quietly) It wasn’t like that…
SHAYLA Then what was it like, huh? You “accidentally” ended up in a cozy cabin with your ex while I was driving around town, worried sick, looking for you?
ANTHONY Shayla… I needed clarity.
SHAYLA (scoffs) You didn’t need clarity — you needed comfort. And you knew exactly where to get it. You just didn’t think I’d find out.
ANTHONY (softly) I didn’t want to hurt you.
SHAYLA Too late for that.
Shayla grabs her bag, eyes glossy but unbroken. She pauses at the door.
SHAYLA Tell Amber I said congratulations. You always run to her when things get hard. Guess I just wasn’t enough.
