You BROKE Shayla, Anthony… And Now Her Baby’s Crying for a Father Who Ain’t There! 💔
[Scene opens with Piarry walking up to Anthony, who’s sitting alone outside.]
Piarry:
You just sitting here like nothing happened, huh?
Anthony:
Piarry, not now. Please. I’m just trying to get my head straight.
Piarry:
Oh, you’re trying to get your head straight? That’s real funny… because Shayla’s been crying for days, Anthony. Days. And that baby? That little boy you made? He’s crying too. For a father who ain’t even there.
Anthony:
Don’t do that, P. You don’t know what’s going on in my head.
Piarry:
I don’t need to know what’s in your head. I saw what’s going on in Shayla’s heart. And it’s broken. Shattered. And you’re the one who did it.
Anthony:
I didn’t mean for it to be like this…
Piarry:
That’s always your excuse — you didn’t mean it. You didn’t mean to lead Shayla on. You didn’t mean to sleep with her. You didn’t mean to make a baby. You didn’t mean to vanish when things got real. But you still did it.
Anthony:
She knew I was married, Piarry.
Piarry:
Yeah, and you knew she loved you. You knew she thought you were going to step up. And the worst part? She actually believed in you. She still believed in you even when you left her standing at that door crying like a little girl.
Anthony:
I’m trying to make it right with Amber. I owe her that.
Piarry:
Amber’s not the only one you owe. You owe Shayla. You owe Kai. That boy wakes up every night looking for you. His momma walks around like a ghost — and all she says is, “He’ll come back… He didn’t mean to leave us like this.”
Anthony:
I never wanted to hurt her, P.
Piarry:
Well, newsflash, Anthony — you did. And now her baby’s suffering because his father doesn’t have the guts to be present.
Anthony:
I’m sending money. I check in—
Piarry:
Money? Is money going to wipe Shayla’s tears away? Is money going to hold Kai when he cries? That boy doesn’t need a bank account. He needs his father. He needs you. And Shayla? She needs peace. Something you stole from her.
Anthony:
So what do you want me to do?
Piarry:
I want you to stop pretending like you’re the only one who’s hurting. I want you to show up. Not just for photo ops. For real. Be there. Talk to Shayla. Face what you did. Apologize. And then change.
Anthony:
You think she’ll even talk to me?
Piarry:
You broke her soul, Anthony. But even broken people deserve closure. And Kai deserves a father who shows up — not one who disappears when it gets hard.
Anthony:
(Pause)
You’re right. I messed up. Bad.
Piarry:
So fix it. Before that baby grows up thinking disappearing is what men do.
