Amber Breaks Down: Can’t You See the Signs, Anthony? God Doesn’t Want This! ๐Ÿ’”

INT. ANTHONY’S APARTMENT – EVENING

Amber stands near the mirror, slipping on her shoes. Anthony walks out of the bedroom buttoning his shirt.

ANTHONY:
Wow. You’re already dressed? That’s a first. Normally, I’m the one pacing around waiting on you.

AMBER:
Yeah. I know.
She laughs faintly, but her eyes don’t smile.
Feels like everything’s backwards lately, doesn’t it?

ANTHONY:
What do you mean?

AMBER:
I mean… from Malachi showing up unannounced, you and him arguing… Shayla saying I can’t even see Kai… to me getting ready before you.
pauses, staring at her reflection
It’s like… nothing is flowing. It’s out of sync.

ANTHONY:
Amber, come on now. We’ve had a rough patch, but that doesn’t mean—

AMBER (cutting in):
No, Anthony. Listen to me.
sighs
How many signs do we need before we admit it? This… gestures between them …might not be working. Maybe God’s been trying to show us, and we keep ignoring it.

ANTHONY:
Hold up. What are you saying?

AMBER:
I’m saying maybe us getting back together was a mistake. I feel like… we’re forcing something that isn’t meant to be anymore. You feel it too — I know you do.

ANTHONY (softly):
Amber… don’t say that. We’ve been through too much. That ain’t how love works.

AMBER:
Exactly. It’s not supposed to feel like this.
Her voice shakes
Love isn’t supposed to make me question myself every day. Or fight battles that aren’t mine.

ANTHONY (steps closer):
Baby, we’ve been through fire. But we made it this far. That has to mean something. I hurt you, yes — I own that. But I’ve been fighting to be better, for you.

AMBER:
And I see that. I really do. But what if it’s still not enough?

ANTHONY (passionately):
It is enough. You are enough. And I won’t let you walk away because things got hard. That’s not who we are. People are going to talk, judge us, drag your name and mine — but we’re stronger than that.

AMBER:
I don’t want strength to be the only thing holding us together. I want peace, Anthony. Peace. And lately… I’ve only felt chaos.

ANTHONY (gently cups her face):
Then let me be your peace. I got us. No matter what Shayla says, no matter what your brother thinks… I’m not going anywhere. You’re the love of my life.

AMBER (tears in her eyes):
Then prove it. Not with words. With consistency.

ANTHONY (nods):
Say less. Watch me.

Beat.

ANTHONY (smiling softly):
Now… can we go? You look too good to waste this outfit on tears.

AMBER (half-laughs):
I just need to grab my purse.

ANTHONY:
Purse? Girl, you ain’t paid for nothing since 2019. Let’s go.

AMBER (walking ahead):
You just like staring at me from the back.

ANTHONY:
You caught me. Now walk slow. That view’s too good to rush.

They both laugh lightly, tension easing — for now.

[FADE OUT]
